Threads of Empowerment: Libertad Women Rise Again
BUNAWAN, AGUSAN DEL SUR — Hope has been stitched back into the lives of the Libertad Women’s Association as they embrace new opportunities through skills training in dressmaking and tailoring.
Since its founding in 2022 with 78 members, the association has made significant progress, with 14 women selected to undergo a 15-day training in dressmaking and tailoring. Funded with Php 30,000.00 through the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) of Philsaga Mining Corporation (PMC) and carried out with the support of BLGU Libertad, the initiative aimed not only to provide new skills but also to build a stronger foundation for livelihood and sustainability.
On September 1, 2025, the culmination program became a milestone event for the association, honored by the presence of the Hon. Sylvia B. Elorde, Mayor of Bunawan, Hon. Benjie P. Plaza, Punong Barangay of Libertad, along with the PMC Community Relations team headed by For. Gladess Dianne S. Buot.
The association expressed its gratitude to the company for supporting their skills training and livelihood program. With the knowledge they gained, the women are now prepared to put their sewing skills to use and support their association’s growth.
