
Philsaga Mining Corporation takes part in the FPIC Preliminary Conference
ROSARIO, AGUSAN DEL SUR - On May 27, 2025, Philsaga Mining Corporation conducted a Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) Preliminary Conference as part of the requirements for the renewal of Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) No. 262-2008-XIII Amended and Exploration Permit Application (EXPA) No. 0000255-XIII. The event was held at the Community Information Center, Padigusan, Sta. Cruz, Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
The FPIC process, facilitated by the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP), guarantees that local Indigenous Cultural Communities are fully informed and empowered to give or withhold their consent regarding mining and exploration activities within their ancestral domains. The conference also marks a crucial phase in engaging Indigenous Peoples directly affected by the company's operations. It represents a significant step toward ensuring that the rights of Indigenous Peoples are upheld in accordance with the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997.
The event was attended by Atty. Raul C. Villanueva, President of Philsaga Mining Corporation; Engr. Ferdinand A. Cortes, Vice President; Engr. Alvin B. Castaños, Resident Manager, company representatives; representatives from the NCIP led by Atty. Keith Russel A. Galvez; and members of the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) from the municipalities of Bunawan and Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
