Coconut farming has always been an important source of livelihood for many communities in the Philippines, including the members of the Consuelo Coconut Farmers Association in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.  However, the industry has faced numerous challenges over the years, including typhoons, pests, and fluctuating prices.

On June 11, 2021, the Consuelo Coconut Farmers Association received a much-needed boost when the Coconut Plantation project was implemented in their barangay.  With a project cost of Php 100,000.00, the initiative aimed to establish a new plantation with 32 coconut trees per beneficiary.

The impact of the Coconut Plantation project was immediately felt by the 100 members of the association.  Each beneficiary received 32 coconut trees, which not only provided them with a new source of income but also helped to rejuvenate the local coconut industry.  The benefits of the project go beyond just financial gain.  Coconut trees are also known to have numerous environmental benefits, such as preventing soil erosion and improving air quality.  Moreover, the project helped to build a sense of community among the beneficiaries, as they worked together to establish the new plantation.

The Coconut Plantation project is a shining example of how small-scale initiatives can make a big difference in the lives of people and their communities.  It is an investment in the future, both for the farmers and for the environment.  With the success of this project, the Consuelo Coconut Farmers Association is optimistic about the future of their industry and their community.
