
Dam Safety and Emergency Response Training Strengthens PMC-MMPRC Preparedness
ROSARIO, AGUSAN DEL SUR — Employees from various departments of mill sites convened for the Dam Safety and Emergency Response Training, held on November 10-12, 2025, at the Mill Safety Training Room. The training underscored PMC and MMPRC's steadfast commitment to promoting safety awareness and preparedness among its workforce, particularly in ensuring dam integrity and efficient emergency response.
Technical expert, Engr. Joel T. Ortez, LCE ASC, a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), and the American Concrete Institute, led with an in-depth discussion on Dam Safety Management and Monitoring. Emergency Response Planning and Coordination session, highlighting the need for clear communication, quick decision-making, and teamwork during potential dam-related emergencies. Participants also learned about early warning systems and proper evacuation procedures. Following this, Mr. Retche B. Banasia, a Senior Science Research Specialist, discussed the Salient Features of the DENR Administrative Order No. 99-32 or the Policy Guidelines and Standards for Mine Wastes and Mill Tailings Management.
This training was also part of the employees' Continuing Professional Development (CPD), a process of learning new skills and knowledge throughout one's career to stay up to date and improve professional practice.
