Rooted in Responsibility: PMC and MMPRC Join Nationwide Effort to Restore and Protect the Environment
ROSARIO, AGUSAN DEL SUR — As communities continue to experience rising temperatures and increasingly extreme weather conditions brought about by climate change, the call for collective environmental action has become more urgent than ever. These environmental challenges serve as a reminder of the impact of human activities on nature and the shared responsibility of all sectors in protecting and restoring the environment.
The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) marked World Environment Month 2026 by leading a Nationwide Tree Planting Activity on June 12, 2026. The event united mining companies in support of climate action and environmental rehabilitation.
Philsaga Mining Corporation (PMC) and Mindanao Mineral Processing and Refining Corporation (MMPRC), through their Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Office (MEPEO), led by Engr. Evangeline S. Salvaña and Assistant Manager Roello Camorro, with their personnel, joined the synchronized nationwide tree-planting at 10:00 A.M., as scheduled by MGB.
At the Road 18 Plantation Site, 210 Molave seedlings were planted to support reforestation, carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and ecological restoration, demonstrating the mining industry's commitment to responsible stewardship.
PMC and MMPRC reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable mining and environmental protection, symbolizing a united effort for a greener, climate-resilient future. Bayanihan is reflected in this year's World Environment Month theme, proving that meaningful environmental action is achieved when government agencies, private companies, and communities work together for the common good.
