Rosario, Agusan del Sur — Demonstrating their continued commitment to responsible mining and environmental sustainability, Philsaga Mining Corporation (PMC) and Mindanao Mineral Processing and Refining Corporation (MMPRC) successfully completed a 10-day Biodiversity and Terrestrial Assessment from 7 to 17 July 2026, within and around their mining and milling operations.

The assessment was undertaken to evaluate the condition of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, document the diversity of plant and animal species, and determine the ecological health of habitats surrounding the project sites. The activity also aimed to generate updated scientific data that will support biodiversity conservation, environmental monitoring, and the implementation of effective environmental management strategies.

The field assessment was conducted by environmental specialists from RMET Industrial Resources, in collaboration with personnel from the Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Office (MEPEO). Survey teams carried out comprehensive field activities, including vegetation and wildlife assessments, habitat characterization, aquatic biota surveys, and the identification and documentation of flora and fauna species within the project's areas of influence.

The findings from the assessment will serve as valuable baseline information for the companies' environmental programs and monitoring initiatives. The data will also help ensure compliance with environmental regulations and strengthen conservation measures designed to protect local ecosystems and biodiversity.
