Access to clean drinking water is essential for human health and well-being, yet many communities in the Philippines still lack access to this basic necessity.  In the Barangays of Poblacion and Nueva Era in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur, two groups of women are benefitting from a project that aims to provide them with the means to produce and distribute clean drinking water.

The Water Refilling project was implemented in two phases on May 12, 2021, and December 07, 2021, with a total cost of Php 1,250,000.00, targets the Poblacion Bunawan Women's Association and 54 Nueva Era Women's Association members.

The project includes the provision of start-up capital, water tanks, and a delivery vehicle for the Poblacion Bunawan Women's Association, enabling them to produce and distribute clean drinking water in the community.  The Nueva Era Women's Association, on the other hand, received a 1-unit water refilling station to produce and distribute clean water in their area.

The Water Refilling project shows how providing access to essential services and empowering women can contribute to the growth and development of local communities.  The project not only provides access to clean drinking water but also empowers women by providing them with the means to start and run their businesses.  This empowerment leads to economic self-sufficiency, independence, and the ability to make decisions that positively impact their families and communities while promoting gender equality and economic empowerment.
