Rosario, Agusan del Sur — Philsaga Mining Corporation (PMC) is gearing up to celebrate Earth Day under the theme "Planet vs. Plastics." The event, slated for April 22, 2024, aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and foster collective action to safeguard the planet.
 
The festivities, organized in collaboration with the Mindanao Mineral Processing and Refining Corporation (MMPRC), promise a range of activities designed to engage participants in eco-friendly initiatives. Starting at 5:30 a.m. with an assembly at the MEPEO Main Office, attendees will receive a briefing accompanied by complimentary coffee and bread.
 
One of the day's highlights is the "Pulot Basura" activity, a form of 'plogging' where participants pick up litter while jogging or walking. The route, from Bobcat to Banahaw to Admin areas, aims to clean up the surroundings while promoting physical activity.
 
Following the cleanup, participants will plant trees at Katipayan, contributing to reforestation efforts and biodiversity conservation. The morning will culminate in a program featuring informational sessions, interactive exhibits, Zumba sessions, and games at the Mill-covered court from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
 
Further, PMC urges all participants to bring their reusable water bottles for the event. In line with the "Planet vs. Plastics" theme, single-use plastics such as bottled water are not provided. Instead, water dispensers will be available throughout the activities.
 
When asked about the significance of PMC's Earth Day celebration, Atty. Raul C. Villanueva, President of Philsaga Mining Corporation, emphasized the company's dedication to environmental stewardship. "As caretakers of the Earth, we are responsible for protecting and preserving our natural resources. Through initiatives like our Earth Day celebration, we strive to inspire others to join us in safeguarding the environment for future generations," remarked Atty. Villanueva.
 
With prizes awaiting participants and a day filled with meaningful activities, PMC's Earth Day celebration promises to be both enjoyable and impactful.
